12/01/2005 Small Dome Big Fun

Had an excellent observing session tonight with my astro-buddy Larry. Two people and a big scope definitely take up most of the available space in the dome. But it's always fun to share the photons with another astronomer, even if we did bump the scope a few times. That's what they make the sync feature for.
With the full moon is was relatively dark, except of course when the police chopper circled overhead with the searchlight blazing. Fortunately no bad guys looking for a hideout appeared at the door.
Need to work on the scope collimation some more.
Observed objects included:
-Polaris
-Capella (for alignment)
-M38 open cluster
-NGC 1907 open cluster
-M36 open cluster
-M37 open cluster
-M45 Pleiades - lots of nebulosity visible.
-Mars
-M42 Orion nebula.
Seeing was only fair. Sky background was relatively good, ~ 19.45 mag/square arcsec. It was about 10 degrees warmer tonight than it has been recently.
