06/07/2006 Nate and Ben Visit Xanadu

For the second year in a row, my cousins (actually my wife's cousins) Nate and Ben were in Tucson and dropped by for a visit on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, for the second year in a row the clouds won and we were not able to get any serious observing in.
Nate knows a lot about astronomy and definitely has a serious interest. He's been gathering some nice gear and I expect we'll see some cool stuff from him soon, maybe even here on AstronomyBlogs. His brother Ben has an impressive science knowledge as well - he tipped me off to a cool web site called "PhysOrg.com".
One thing we were successful in this time was to get a little solar observing done. This picture shows Nate viewing the Sun in Hydrogen-alpha through the Coronado PST. There were a bunch of small prominences visible, and one fairly big one. So at least we were able to collect a few photons. After all, a photon is a terrible thing to waste.
