05/06/2006 TAAA Meeting Members Night

Tonight was the monthly meeting of the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association. Instead of the usual beginner's and main lectures, we had a "members night" where certain members gave short presentations on a variety of topics.
There were some great presentations including one on drawing observations, a couple on the recent solar eclipse, an excellent display of CCD images, etc. I'm always in awe of the depth of expertise that many of the other members in the club seem to have.
I gave a powerpoint show about astronomy blogs which included a demo of this blog as well as a few others. Unfortunately the meeting was rather late by the time I got up front, so I had to compress it a bit and many folks had already left. Anyway a copy of the presentation can be found at http://www.xanaduobservatory.com/ASTRONOMY%20BLOGS_files/frame.htm.
Maybe somebody out there will start a new blog...
Wish I could open the dome tonight for some observing, but I have a full day ahead of me at the Scout Show tomorrow.
