Here's a very basic picture of M66 that I took last night. The images were only 150 seconds long, and I had to delete most of them simply because the wind was too strong for the autoguider to keep hold of the guide star. This is a combination of 6 clear filter, 1 red, 1 blue, and 1 "simulated green" image. By the time I got to the green, the wind was so strong that it was fruitless to try to image. So for the green layer I just averaged the single red and blue. I know, that's not very accurate, but the point was to get a basic image, not to create a spectacular one. With better focus, a calmer night, proper color balancing, and longer exposures I can improve - that's what keeps it fun, always a way to make it better.
I might try imaging again tonight, the sky is looking so-so but that's better than a rainstorm!
