Well I just completed a "mini" Messier Marathon in the observatory. The computer crashed just as I was trying to post my final observation from DeepSky, which was M101, The Pinwheel Galaxy.
I think it might be complaining about the cold, as the temperature has dropped to just about 40 degrees Fahrenheit. My fingers are numb.
In the past 3 1/4 hours I observed a total of 34 Messier objects, or just less than a third of the total. I've learned some important lessons. Hopefully this weekend, which will be new moon weekend, will be clear because a few of my buddies and I plan to head out to dark skies and practice a bit more seriously than I was able to tonight.
It's late and I have early a.m. appointments at the office. But I'm glad I spent some time out here.
