A good night for astronomy. Attended the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association meeting and heard a great talk about the Spitzer Space Telescope from the PI (Kennicut). Also an inspiring slide show on the moon by David Levy.
After the meeting Larry and I spent some time in the dome. Seeing was poor tonight. It's been strange weather, last night was very windy (thought about opening the dome but decided it was too windy) and today was quite warm.
But it's still fun regardless to sit at the eyepiece and see the amazing things that are otherwise hidden. I wonder, for example, what Hind thought when he first discovered his "crimson star". I sometimes stumble across new "discoveries" as I slew around, but of course they are always already known to someone else. All I need to do is locate the new object on my computer program. It does not bother me much, though, because a new discovery for me is always exciting anyway.
