08/12/2006 AstroImage 2006

It's been a good day full of astrophotography seminars. The AstroImage 2006 conference, sponsored by the Orange County Astronomers, had plenty of excellent speakers and topics. Last night things got started with talks on Photoshop processing and digital cameras; today we heard a bunch more.
John Laborde spoke about creating mosaics. Ron Dantowitz gave an energetic talk on video astronomy. Rob Gendler presented an excellent session on hybrid imaging. Robert Reeves discussed webcam imaging (I picked up a copy of his new book and got it autographed too). Chuck Vaughn talked about converting to digital imaging. Chris Butler gave an entertaining talk called "Eye of the Beholder" which was really inspiring. After dinner, Tony Hallas gave us some tips about printing out digital images.
I've had a lot of fun, met some great people and learned a bunch of new tips. Tomorrow we will be taking a Palomar Observatory tour and then it's time to head back home.
