12/19/2006 The Snowman, New and Improved

Here's a better version of the faint emission nebula Sharpless 2-302. Click Here for a larger image and some related data. After taking my first image of this object under poor conditions, I decided I wanted to try for some better data. I used longer exposure times (20 minutes each), and took about 30 images in the H-alpha filter over a 4 night period. I culled the best 19 out of those and discarded the rest. I also took some 5 minute exposures in red, green, and blue in order to get some color.
It's cloudy tonight and getting colder, there may even be some rain. But it's supposed to clear up by the weekend so maybe I will get in some Christmas observing.
I dropped by Starizona today while I was out visiting a client. Looks like they've been moving some scopes, hopefully there will be some new stargazers out there on Christmas night!
